In 2008 the idea to once again send
awesome cars thundering up the
Kinneil hill was proposed, and the Bo’ness Revival was born.

Its motor is still thrumming in 2021.

14 Years in Motion

To celebrate our coming on board as sponsors, we at Cask 88 are delighted to have discovered a cask of Single Malt Scotch whisky that was put into its cask in the same fateful year as the Revival began. This cask will become a special bottle to mark this event.

Over 14 years the Bo’ness Revival has grown its membership and brought more and more shining examples of classic car engineering to the track and put them through their paces – and all the while this whisky has been maturing and growing in depth and richness.

Interred Combustion

For this special bottling, we’ve chosen a single cask from the Loch Lomond distillery that sits just over the Highland line on the southern shores of the loch. The whisky is one of Loch Lomond’s ‘Croftengea’ expressions – one in which peat is burned and the smoke infuses the barley used to make the whisky. This is the whisky world’s equivalent of a hydrocarbon fuelled, guttural V8 with torque that lasts for days. We thought that it might be appropriate!

Red Shift

The label on the bottle is a stylish rendition of an absolute classic – The Austin 7 special; engine tuned by Bonewell and new body designed and built by Pete Graham. Unsubstantiated rumour has it that Pete uncovered the original vintage special in a barn in Argentina, and as such it may have been used pre-war by famous Formula One driver of the 50s, Juan Manuel Fangio.

Purchased by Colin McLachlan in 2018, this unique vehicle has been performed beautifully on many hillclimbs and sprints, always in Colin’s expert hands.

In a slight detour from reality, this version of ‘The Moose’ is painted in a deep and satisfying red because, y’know: red goes faster.
