This is the one for those who crave the peat. The nose is deceptively moderate on smoke, but on tasting the reek gushes forth and covers the drinker in deliciously indulgent soot. Take care with this Croftengea – it’s quite different from other whiskies made at the usually mild mannered Loch Lomond distillery.

Tasting Notes
Nose: White grape and green fig – both on the cusp of ripeness and served with fresh runny honey. At the midpoint the aroma pivots around barley grist and then dives into moderate smokiness of hot motor oil and brown sugar blasted to char by an engineering blowtorch.
Palate: Much more ferocious on the palate – a fleshy burst of clementine and sour cherry sweets quickly gets blanketed in thick smoke. Fruitiness is suppressed as the peat reek hangs low over the water, leaving an ashen and barley husk finish with a spot of licorice.
