Tasting Notes
Nose: Delightfully fragrant nose, with a hit of gooseberry and banana bread, developing into dried stone fruits. The next wave is sweeter still, though with a shaving of bitterness; candied orange peel enrobed in Swiss milk chocolate and white chocolate ganache
Palate: This is rich and indulgent, sugar and spice. We found notes of christmas pudding with a short soak in brandy, butterscotch cake and a milk-chocolate covered fruit tart. As well as the seasonal spices, there’s a dashing of cracked black pepper in the back. The finish is shortish, but potent. Brioche and custard roll, fading into anise.
Cask 88’s Unfiltered Series
Unfiltered bottles showcase what independent bottlers bring to the whisky industry. The whiskies are unique – single cask, unblended expressions, they cannot be repeated once the supply is drunk – they are ephemeral, presenting each individual cask as its own entity. By their nature, single cask whiskies are available in small batches of just a couple of hundred bottles. The whiskies will be straight from the cask, untampered with. No colouring, no chill-filtering and no dilution.
